Treating a patient s/p THR revision in which the incision site became infected. I & D performed on the incision site on July 2, 2001. At that time the wound was 4 inches wide by 5 inches long. Now, December 2001, the wound measures 2 cm wide at the opening, but tunnels 7cm deep going in a posterior, superior direction. Physician has ordered daily cleansing with saline and use of a catheter tube. We are packing it gently with 1/4 inch Nu-gauze. The Nu-gauze is always found to have fallen out once the dressing is removed the next day. The tunnel is getting more narrow, but not filling in from the top. Any suggestions? By the way, pt. being seen in PT dept. Thanks.
