My grandmother cut herself on the calf/shin months ago. It became red and eventually became horribly painful. She finally went to the doctor where she was told it was gaingreenous. Pseudomonias is a word we heard repeatedly. She then developed the same type of infection in a scrape on her hand. We were then told she had contracted a staph infection. Since she first went to the would care facility, things have worsened ten-fold. This weekend she received skin grafts on her hand & leg. The Dr. said, due to her pour circluation in her legs, if the Skin Graft on the leg does not take she could be looking at Amputation. Wound is deep...all the way through the tendons & into nerve. Somebody please help!! What have we gotten into here? What should we do?

Four or five days ago, I fell off my bike while riding on concrete. It was no big spill, no breaks, but I got scrapes all over my hands, arms, and shoulders. I washed them that day, but didn't go to the hospital-- I wasn't bleeding much from them. Now, I notice that they are very red and a little bit swollen. Are they infected?
