I sounds like your husband is getting the right care. An ulcer of this size may take up to several months to heal. You mention that he had a debridement done and he is currently using accuzyme on his wound. Are they going to perform further debridements? Have his doctors talked about about surgical closure such as a flap graft? Do you have a wound care center involved? If you don't have a wound care center involved, go to the prompt on the right hand side of the wounds1.com home page to locate one or ask your doctor. A wound care center can be a great resource as they are used to these things and have just about all the specialists there. I hope I've helped you with this.

My husband had a very long operation in July. he developed a stage 4 Pressure ulcer during surgery. He was been in the hospital being treated, came home for a week develped an infection. He then went back to the hospital & had surgical debridement he was on IV for almost a month. He is now in a subacute center & they are treating it with accuzyme papain-urea. The ulcer is on his sacrum, he is well nurished & mobile. There is now a lot of new tissue, but also areas of bad!!! There has also been bleeding from the new tissue! How long does it take for an ulser like this to close 11 cc x 7cc? Would be thankful to speak to someone who has gone through something similar. Thank You Dee
