Five weeks ago I had a car accident and suffered a degloving injury of my lower left leg. I've been treated by a plastic surgeon with dressing changes and compression bandages. Now that it is healing some, he wants to remove all the dead tissue and do a skin graft over the area. He says it will speed my healing time considerably. Is this normal procedure? Does the skin graft hurt much, especially fromt the donor site? Anyone with history of this and how it has turned out for them.
