The following is a press release for a new wound healing center in Texas, that briefly discusses hyperbaric oxygen treatment
On Jan. 12, Central Texas Medical Center (CTMC) began seeing patients in its new Institute for Advanced Wound Healing. The Institute specializes in advanced wound therapies, including hyperbaric oxygen therapy. It is located on the first floor of the Professional Office Building at 1301 Wonder World Drive.
Dr. Patrick N. Kimbrell and Dr. Heather McKenzie, both certified wound specialists, will serve as co-medical directors for the program. They are working directly with area physicians to evaluate, investigate and determine appropriate healing regimes for patients with hard to heal wounds that can literally threaten both life and limb. Eight new associates have joined the CTMC team to support the new service.
CTMC president and CEO Gary Jepson said, ““We are pleased to be able to provide this much-needed service enhancement to our hospital. This new team of physicians, nurses and technicians are specifically trained to provide comprehensive treatment to help those suffering from these kinds of wounds improve their quality of life.”
The 4,500-square-foot facility is the latest in a series of improvements that CTMC has undergone since 2007. The 64,000-square-foot Women’s Center, which opened in November of last year, is the largest phase of the $35 million expansion and renovation program. A new cardiac inpatient nursing unit also opened in December 2009.
The surgical suite is the final phase of the project. It is scheduled to be completed later this spring. Several hundred thousand dollars more have been invested in a third floor renovation, which included a conversion to all private rooms in 2008. CTMC’s Sleep Study Center and an expansion of the hospital’s MRI services also took place in 2008.
In 2007 the CTMC Institute for Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation opened, along with a complete renovation of the hospital’s main lobby including a Mocha’s and Java’s internet cafe.
A public grand opening is planned for the Institute for Advanced Wound Healing is planned for the spring of 2010.
